John E. Bacon, age 81, of Canton passed away May 28, at Norwood Hospital. Born and raised in Ciciero, Ill., he graduated from Lyons High School in Illinois. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a plant manager for Norris Industries in Brockton. He previously lived in Stoneham where he was the chairman of the annual local Red Cross Blood Drive and had lived in Canton since 1972. He enjoyed golf and was a member of Wampatuk Country Club in Canton. He was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and growing tomatoes in his garden. He was the father of John Michael Bacon and his wife Terry of South Easton, Tim Bacon of Canton and Tom Bacon and his wife Donna of Stoughton; brother of A. Raymond Bacon of Chicago and the late Llewellyn Marciszewski. Also survived by 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours were held at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St., Canton, Friday, May 30, 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass was at St. John the Evangelist Church, Canton, Saturday morning at 10:30. Burial private. Donations may be made in his memory to the Canton EMT Assn., 99 Revere St., Canton, MA 02021.
