Walter H. Young, age 83, a longtime resident of Holbrook, died peacefully, Monday, September 12, 2016 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham. Walter was born on June 15, 1933 in Lyndhurst, New Jersey to the late Walter J. and Margaret (Harmon) Young. He was raised and educated in Lyndhurst and was a graduate of Lyndhurst High School. Walter had lived in Holbrook for thirty-two years, previously in Quincy. Walter served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He began his career in the banking industry with Howard Savings Bank in New Jersey. He then went on to work for Partners Healthcare as a Health Safety Net representative and retired in 2010 with thirty-five years of service. Walter was an avid reader and enjoyed following current events. He was devoted to his family, especially his wife and son. Beloved husband for forty-four years of Irene C. (Sanborn) Young. Devoted father of Christopher W. Young of Stoughton. Dear brother of the late Gerald Young and Margaret Peggy Young. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, One Independence Avenue, Quincy, Saturday, September 17, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint Marys Church, 211 North Main Street, Randolph at 10 oclock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home Friday, Sept. 16, from 5 - 8 p.m. Interment with military honors in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
