Alice Olsen Obituary

Alice (Lemery) Olsen, 93, a resident of Stow, MA, since 1983, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Concord Healthcare Center, Concord, MA. A native of Griggsville, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Ezra E. Lemery and Viola Mae (Knollhoff) Lemery and the wife of the late Ivar O. Olsen, who died in 1984. Mrs. Olsen had been employed as a secretary at the former Design Pak, Marlborough for 33 years, before retiring in 1982. An active member of the First Church in Marlborough (Congregational) since moving to Marlborough in 1946, Alice served as a Deacon and on the Womens Fellowship and parish fair committee. She was known for her baking skills and was happy to provide whatever was needed for parties and holidays. Although she had no family locally, Alice had many close friends with whom she shared her time and special moments. She had been a volunteer at Emerson Hospital, Concord since 1985, was currently a member of board at the Council on Aging, Stow, a member of the Eastern Star Mizpah Chapter 29 and a former board member at Minuteman Senior Services with whom she was active until 2004. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews, Helen Dowell of Bowling Green, MO, Jean and Norman Clark of New London, MO, Mary and Herman Steinman, of Billings, MO, Dwayne and Barbara Van Sickle of Cabot, AK, Rose and Wayne Weldy of Frankford, MO, Joyce and Charles Armour of New London, MO, Archie and Virginia Van Sickle of Hannibal MO, Viola and Robert Jordan of Bridgeport, WVA, Virginia and Dean Strohm, of Clinton, IN, and Edward and Carol Van Sickle of Center, MO, 33 great-nieces and nephews and 60 great great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend Evelyns daughters and their families, Nancy Langelier and her husband Peter of Marlborough and Charlotte Menninger of Northborough. An hour of visitation was held on Tuesday, October 8, from 10-11 a.m. at the First Church in Marlborough, 37 High St., Marlborough, followed by a funeral service at 11:00. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough. Donations may be made to; First Church Memorial Fund, 37 High St., Marlborough, MA 01752, SFCOA, Box 97, Stow, MA 01775 or Minuteman Senior Services, 26 Crosby Dr., Bedford, MA 01730 Arrangements are under the direction of the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA.
