Berthe L. Lessard

Berthe L. Lessard of Framingham, Formerly of Sudbury died at St. Patricks Manor in Framingham April 17, 2013. She was 102. Berthe was born on October 10, 1910 in Lawrence, Massachusetts the daughter the late Joseph and Marie (Gagne) Lessard and spent her childhood in that city. She moved to Boston at a young age and developed a long and successful career as an insurance claims adjuster. After her retirement in 1975, she settled in Sudbury and was an original resident of Musketahquid Village where she lived until last July. She quickly became involved and much loved in many areas of town life. She was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and an active participant in all facets of interests of seniors including Council on Aging, Friends of Sudbury Senior Citizens, establishment of the Senior Center, Wheel-A-Meal and as a driver for FISH and the VNA. She was a member of the Sudbury Womens Club and enjoyed playing bridge and travel. She had an endearing directness and sense of humor and touched the lives of men and women of all faiths in Sudbury with her gifts of joy, humor and compassion according to her former pastor, Reverend Michael Bova Conti. On the occasion of her 100th birthday, she was feted and presented the Boston Post Cane as Sudburys oldest resident. She will be ondly remembered and dearly missed by her many friends. A funeral mass at Lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Road, Sudbury was held at 9:00 am Monday, April 22, 2013. Burial was in the family plot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover, Massachusetts.
