Elizabeth (Betty) Bonney Bishop, born Elizabeth Alice Bonney on February 18, 1927 in Quincy Massachusetts and a longtime resident of Sudbury MA passed away at home Monday, March 26th, surrounded by family and friends after a brief illness and 91 full years of life. Betty grew up in the Houghs Neck community of Quincy and often spoke fondly of her days growing up by sea and sand. She lived 50+ years with her family in Sudbury MA and was an active member of her community and church. While working in an insurance office in her twenties she encountered a young man who was looking for insur- ance who piqued her inte- rest| he became her husband of 64 years, Donald Dike Bishop. Given Dons Air Force career Betty managed the family, and child birth, as they moved across the nation and briefly in Turkey; each of their four children were born in different states. They fin- ally settled back in Sudbury, Massachusetts in the old Raymond estate on Raymond Road in 1969. The family resided there until 1996 when they moved to their Old Sudbury Road residence. Betty was an active member of the Sudbury community working at the Lincoln Sudbury High School for a num- ber of years and volunteering with the Sudbury Garden Club, First Parish Church of Sudbury and many committees. She enjoyed her mon- thly lunch bunch meetings with her group of women friends and was an avid reader always eager to learn and listen to others' opinions. She loved to garden and attended master garden- ing classes off and on for years through Radcliffe College in Cambridge, MA where she received a certificate. She also loved to create beautiful flower arrangements and often won awards for them. Betty was a music lover as well attending the BSO and the Boston Pops for many years. She vacationed many summers with family on the Cape, reconnecting to her youth by spending time on the bayside flats of Brewster, MA. Over the years she also took care of her elderly mother, aunts, and cousin Bob; bringing the family together for the holidays and helping them navigate their final years with love, companionship, and transportation. Bettys husband Donald Dike Bishop predeceased her in 2015 and she is survived by daughters Lisa Bishop Cogswell, Susan Bishop and Leslie Bishop Sabino along with Bettys son Robert Andrew Bishop and her sons-in-law Jonathan B Cogswell, Douglas Blair and Jeffrey Sabino. She also leaves her five grandchildren Kathryn, Laura, Jonathan, Brandon, and Meaghan.
