Josephine Kiesewetter Obituary
Josephine (Elsner) Kiesewetter, 88, formerly of Sudbury, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 after a period of declining health. Born May 13, 1929 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late George B. and Edna (Maushart) Elsner. Josephine is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, George H. Kiesewetter II, of Hudson, MA; her four loving children, George H. Kiesewetter III and his wife Virginia of Falmouth, ME, Eric E. Kiesewetter and his wife Krisztina of Plymouth, MA, Chris V. Kiesewetter and his wife Alexandra of Montauk, NY, Kim Drew and her husband Chris of San Francisco, CA; siblings, Ellen Eschmann of Bedford, NY, the late Mary Markarian and the late Norbert Elsner. Josephine was a graduate of Hunter College and proud of her New York roots. A longtime resident of Sudbury, she enjoyed volunteering for many causes, and was especially gratified by her participation with the Sudbury Villagers Club and Sudbury Historical Society. During the retirement years, Josephine enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing bridge and games with friends, and doting on her eight grandchildren. She was an avid reader and a lively member of multiple book clubs. Josephine loved to spend time in her gardens: peonies in Sudbury and roses on Marthas Vineyard. Martha's Vineyard was a special place for her and she particularly savored long afternoons on Menemsha Beach. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m Thursday, December 7th at St. Matthias Parish, 409 Hemenway Street, Marlborough. Interment in Bourne National Cemetery will be private. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 - 6 p.m at the Duckett | J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road (Route 20), Sudbury. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Monahan Hospice Home, in memory of Josephine E. Kiesewetter, at VNA Care, Fund Development, 199 Rosewood Drive, Suite 180, Danvers, MA 01923 (vnacare.org).
