Obituary Condolences

McCarthy, Leonard J. Mac, Sr. of Maynard and Jupiter Florida, formerly of Sudbury, died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Emerson Hospital in Concord following a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband for 69 years of Dorothy (Hawker) McCarthy. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts June 4, 1924, he was the son of the late Edward and Josephine (Galvin) McCarthy. Mac joined the United States Marine Corps in World War II and was discharged in 1946 as a Technical Sergeant after serving as a control tower operator attached to the AES 44 stationed in the South Pacific. Over the years he was an entreprenure that started many businesses in the area including MASS Hardware, Slide A Units, Atlantic Prehung Doors and Pella Windows & Doors from which he retired in 1987. Mr. McCarthy also served as a trustee of The Middlesex Savings Bank and enjoyed golfing as well as spending winters with his wife in Jupiter Florida. He was the father of Maureen McCarthy Peck of Florida, Karen Park of Stow, Jonathon R. McCarthy of Florida, David T. McCarthy of Maynard and the late Leonard J., Jr. and Frederick F. McCarthy; the grandfather of William and Christopher Peck, Matthew and Lisa Park, Beth Dow, Amy and Frederick McCarthy, Jr. and great grandfather of Elizabeth, Reagan and Jack. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Robert McCarthy, Rev. Francis E. McCarthy, OCarm., and his sister,Theresa McGovern. Funeral services will be from the Duckett-J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd., Rt. 20, Sudbury, Thurs., Feb. 7, at 9:00 am followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Rd., Sudbury at 10:00 oclock. Interment will be in New Town Cemetery, Sudbury. Visitation at the funeral home will be Wed., Feb. 6, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Memorial donations in memory of Leonard J.
