Mrs. Hazel (Blocksidge) Oliver passed away peacefully on July 15. She was 95 years old. She was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Florence Blocksidge of Lynn. She was devoted to her family; her late husband Emerson, and her three daughters, Susan Schneider of Marblehead, Sarah Oliver and Janet Oliver of Portland, Oregon. Hazel also adored her two grandsons, Franz and Andrew Schneider of Marblehead. She was a diligent volunteer and devoted her organizational talents to many different causes. She was instrumental in helping to raise the money needed to restore the wallpaper in Marblehead's Lee Mansion, and was involved in planning many projects for what became the Peabody Essex Museum. She was also a member of the Ladies' Committee at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. A passionate gardener, she was a member of both the Marblehead and Winter Garden Clubs. Hazel was the sister of the late Marjorie Blatchford and the late Muriel Justice. In addition to her daughters and grandsons she will also be remembered by her nieces and nephew. A private memorial service will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Marblehead Museum and Historical Society, 170 Washington Street, Marblehead 01945.
