Richard G. Callum age 77 of Swampscott, died on Friday after a brief illness in the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Samuel and Minnie Callum. He graduated from Lynn Classical High School and Bentley College. He had resided in Swampscott for the past 49 years. He formerly was the President of Willard Helburn Co., a leather tanning company in Danvers and until his retirement in 1996 he was the co-owner of Rainbow-Newworld a shoe importing company in Woburn. He was a member of Temple Sinai and a past president of the Brotherhood in Marblehead, the Kernwood Country Club in Salem, and the Knights of Pythias in Peabody. Beloved husband of Annette (Weisman) Callum. Devoted father of David and his wife Susan Callum of Peabody, Dr. Michael and his wife Dr. Julie Callum of Swampscott. Loving brother of Frances Cohen of Salem, Marion Levine of Lynn and the late Merrill Callum and Barry Callum. Cherished grandfather of Amanda, Adam, Jayne and Eric Callum. Services at the Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin St., Salem-Swampscott line on Monday, May 7 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in the Temple Sinai Cemetery, Cemetery Rd., Danvers.
