Obituary Condolences

Henry C. Pollard, 93 of Tewksbury, formerly of Newton passed away at home January 5, 2014 surrounded by family. He was the husband of the late Marjorie D. (Hall) Pollard who passed in 2004 after 63 years of marriage. He was born in Newton, MA. August 11, 1920. He was the son of the late Henry and Bernice (Green) Pollard. He lived in Newton most of his life before moving to Tewksbury 11 years ago. Mr. Pollard graduated from Newton Technical High School. He was a printer/compositor and worked for the Christian Science Publications before his retirement. He also attended classes at Bentley College. He was a veteran of the Army/Air Force serving our country during World War II in Australia and the Philippines. He was a lifelong member of The Masons. He attended the First Baptist Church in Newton and was a very active member for many years serving as a deacon and church treasurer. He attended the First Baptist Church in Tewksbury since his move to the area. Mr. Pollard enjoyed fishing, gardening, and doing jigsaw puzzles. He was an avid reader visiting the library at least weekly. He volunteered at the Newton library for many years after his retirement. He was a quiet man with a heart of gold, a kind word for everyone. He is survived by 2 daughters, Phyllis Foley of Humble TX, Marilyn Henderson and her companion Robert Moore of Tewksbury; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren as well as his friend and companion, Ida Cann. He will be missed by all that knew his gentle soul. A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make a contribution to The Salvation Army @salvationarmy.org.
