I will always treasure the time spent with Mrs. Fleck at the Edward Devotion School. I graduated there in 1961 and Mrs. Fleck remains a bright light in my memories. She was a dedicated teacher, inspiring so many of us to pursue music. And who could ever forget her wiggling her ears to bring laughter and joy into the mix?

Mrs. Fleck was and will always be my biggest musical inspiration (and more). As an Edward Devotion School pupil I had the tremendous privilege of being taught by Mrs. Fleck, the ultimate embodiment of a caring teacher. Two example out of scores: I wanted to take up the Xylophone, and Mrs. Fleck helped carry this large instrument up two flights of stairs to my family apartment where it remained for several weeks. Another time (many years later), Mrs. Fleck took the train to attend a concert of mine. It was such a thrill to see her again. She will always remain in my heart. Here's my double stroke roll, Mrs. Fleck - is it any better than last week?
