Carol Hunt-Clerici of Walpole, a counseling psychologist and former faculty personnel assistant in Boston Colleges academic vice presidents office, died January 16, 2018, of heart failure. She was 79. Born on March 14, 1938, in New York, Carol was a 1955 graduate of Norwood High School. Nearly 25 years after graduating, and after having three children, she decided to pursue higher education while working at Boston College. She earned two degrees at BC, a bachelors in psychology in 1987 and a masters in counseling psychology in 1991. She was a longtime Walpole resident, a Walpole Town Meeting member, and worked in the Walpole school system at Bird Middle School, Fisher Elementary School, and as an AFSCME union rep and union negotiator. She also worked at the Leland Hall School in Norfolk and was a counselor at Summerhill House, a residential facility for teen mothers in Norwood. She worked at Boston College for 20 years, first at the Office of Student Programs and Resources and then as faculty personnel assistant at the academic vice presidents office under AVP Fr. Joseph Fahey, SJ, and then AVP Fr. William Neenan, SJ. She also contributed to several BC organizations, including the Lynch School of Education and BC Law School; served on numerous boards at BC, including the Staff Advisory Senate, the Elections Committee, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship Committee; and at several BC events met such luminaries as Gov. Mario Cuomo, Danny Glover, Sen. Gary Hart, Abbie Hoffman, Rev. Jesse Jackson, G. Gordon Liddy, and her teen idol Gordon MacRae. Her charity work extended to several committees and events, including as a committee member of Wrentham Developmental Centers annual Friends of Wrentham Celebrity Golf Tournament (a fundraiser for the developmentally-challenged residents) and also as committee member, treasurer, and volunteer coordinator of the Camy 5K Run & David 5K Walk in Walpole, among whose benefactors have included Brigham & Womens, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Norwood Hospital, One Fund Boston, Walpole Community Food Pantry, Walpole Italian-American Club & Society, and the Wrentham Developmental Center. She loved spending time with her family at get-togethers, concerts, games, high tea, plays, and meeting famous people through her sons work, events, or interests, including actors Peter Falk, Katharine Hepburn, James Earl Jones, Frank Langella, Jerry Lewis, Leonard Nimoy; violinist Itzhak Perlman; composer Richard Rodgers; athletes Gary Player, Steve Grogan, Jo Jo White, Bobby Orr, Brad Park, Milt Schmidt, Patti & Dan Dillon, Bobbi Gibb, Roger Robinson, Bill Rodgers, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Frank Shorter, Kathrine Switzer; President Bill Clinton, Mass. Senate President William Bulger, and Boston mayor Tom Menino, among them. She also enjoyed attending golf tournaments, hockey games, and road races (especially the Boston Marathon, Hyannis Marathon, Falmouth Road Race) in which her husband and sons were competing. And she loved traveling, which included trips to Bermuda, Canada, England, Ireland, the Berkshires, Tanglewood, Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Cape Cod, Chicago, Hawaii, New York, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and a cruise. Carol was the wife of the late Francis Frank Anthony Clerici Sr. She is survived by her son, Frank Clerici Jr. and daughter-in- law Regina Clerici, and son, Paul Clerici, all of Walpole, and many loving cousins, relatives, and friends. She was also the mother of the late David Clerici of Walpole. Carol was the daughter of the late William and Mary Alice Grace Hunt. Burial was private. I was sadden when I heard the news yesterday.
What a beautiful and kind soul. I will always remember her at the races and get togethers. She was always a pleasure to be with and she did live life fully. God bless her.

Paul, Frank and family,
May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall
You do not walk alone.
She is the thousand winds that blow...
She is the diamond glints on snow...
She is the sunlight on ripened grain...
She is the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
She is the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
She is the soft star that shines at night.

Love,

Dear Paul and Frank JR,
I was stunned to learn of your mother's passing.
I am greatly sorry for your loss of such a dear, precious woman. I loved your mom and dad, and will always remember how very happy they were together, and how proud they were of their handsome sons.
Now they and David are together once more, for eternity.
I love you both so much,
Your cousin,
Cyndy

While I can't seem to find the words to properly describe all the emotions regarding my mother's passing, there are a million words to describe her. She's wonderful, beautiful, funny, loving, caring, selfless, smart, warm - I could go on, of course. Every aspect of my life is affected by her presence, whether it was enjoying an iced tea and frappe together on a Tuesday afternoon; attending a performance by Aerosmith, the Boston Pops, David Bowie, Kiss, Prince, James Taylor, Lauren Bacall, Peter Falk, Katharine Hepburn, Jerry Lewis, or traveling around the world (Bermuda, Canada, England, Ireland) and the U.S. (Cape Cod, Chicago, Disney, Hawaii, Lake Placid, Philadelphia, San Francisco). She truly cherished every moment.

Despite being an insulin-dependent diabetic and having suffered a heart attack and congestive heart failure, she nevertheless fully enjoyed life and all it offered: dipping her toes in the warm sands of Falmouth; sitting on a Honolulu beach to watch a sunset; leaning against a Buckingham Palace gatepost to witness the Changing of the Guard; sipping tea on Grafton Street in Dublin; watching a Bruce Springsteen concert in a thunderstorm at Gillette Stadium; chatting with Snow White and Dopey at Walt Disney World; spending evenings and weekends studying for her bachelor's and master's degrees at Boston College nearly 25 years after high school; discussing Shakespeare with James Earl Jones in his backstage dressing room after his performance of Othello; enjoying hockey and basketball games, golf matches, marathons and road races in which her husband and kids were competing; shaking hands with the Mouse King at Boston Ballet's "The Nutcracker."

We've received a tremendous amount of comfort, love, and support from family and friends who were also so greatly touched by my mother, a legacy worth more than its weight in gold, and for which we are extremely grateful. It was a fantastically full life with no wasted time! And at the risk of sounding cliche, as Clarence Oddbody said in one of Mom's favorite films, "You really had a wonderful life."
