Helen B. Moroney Obituary
Helen Barbara Moroney, of Mashpee, formerly of Walpole, passed away peacefully at the Cape Heritage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center on May 31, 2018. She was the beloved wife of James F. Moroney and the daughter of the late Helen and John Tremble. Barbara, as she was known to all, grew up in Boston. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy and earned a Bachelors of Arts degree from Emmanuel College. Barbara's career focused on education. She began her career as a classroom teacher and continued on to become a Language Arts Specialist in the Walpole and Foxboro schools. Her passion was to teach a child who was struggling to read. After she retired she volunteered in the Mashpee schools, continuing to teach children to read. Barbara was a parishioner at Christ the King Church in Mashpee, and a volunteer at the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce. She was an avid reader and most of all enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and dedicated friend who will be dearly missed by all who loved her. In addition to her husband James of 63 years, Barbara is survived by 4 daughters, Barbara Houlihan and husband John of Wells, ME, Kathie Miller and husband James of Greenwich, CT, Jane Wallace and husband Mark of Prevessin, France, Patti Lewitt and husband Michael of Brookline, MA. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Alex, Megan, Elizabeth, CJ, John, Michael, Nick,and Jack, as well as 5 great grandchildren: Victor, Elodie, Eva, Liam, and Finn. A visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151) Mashpee, Ma on Tuesday June 5, 2018 from 9:00am to 10:30am. A funeral mass will follow at Christ the King Church 3 Jobs Fishing Rd. Mashpee at 11:00am. Burial will be private. For online guestbook and directions please visit www.ccgfuneralhome.com.
