Margaret McLaughlin Obituary
Margaret (Peg) McLaughlin, 84 formerly of Boston, Walpole and South Chatham, passed away on November 22, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. At her request, a private burial service will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Friday, June 8, where she will be laid to rest with her loving husband of 57 years, Charles V. McLaughlin, after which a memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am at Holy Redeemer Church, Highland Ave, in Chatham. As a pioneer in the medical profession of Womens Health, Peg worked tirelessly for more than twenty years in the fields of Medical Technology and Cytotechnology. Peg was a long-standing member of the American Society for Cytotechnology (ASCT). She was proud to have promoted quality health care for women as a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Peg, with her husband Charlie, raised their family in Walpole, and moved to Chatham in 1992, realizing their wonderful life-long retirement goal. Peg enjoyed a full life in Chatham, including her many volunteer efforts with the Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary. She established and managed the first womens golf league in Chatham, and she was an organizing member of the Chatham Juliets. Peg is dearly missed by her daughters, Mary McLaughlin Habib and her husband David of San Antonio, Texas, and Anne McLaughlin Dattilo of Hollywood, Florida. She adored her grandsons David and Steven Dattilo, and Alec Habib. Peg is survived by her sisters Theresa Murray of Florida and Jeanne Richards of Virginia, and brother Peter Curley and his wife Mary of Plymouth. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Born in Boston, she was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Mary (Fitzgerald) Curley, and her siblings Sr. Anne Curley, Julia Quigley, and Mary Brewin.
