Richard A. Dick Newton died on Saturday, September 14, 2013 in Cary, North Carolina at the age of 95. He was the husband of the late Eugenie (Eckert) Newton to whom he was wed on October 25, 1941. Born in Sharon, MA on July 31, 2018, he was a son of the late C. Parker and Esther (Conner) Newton. He was the brother of the late Robert Newton and Charlotte Newton. He grew up and was educated in Sharon and graduated from Northeastern University in 1941. Part of the Greatest Generation, he served during World War II in the Army Air Corp. A resident of East Walpole from 1953 to 2009, he was an active member of the Union Congregational Church serving on various committees. He loved the lakes and mountains of New Hampshire and enjoyed tennis, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, golf, travelling and anything related to the Civil War. Dick is survived by his daughters Gail and her husband Dave Stonefield and Marcia and her husband Bill Flanagan, his grandchildren Scott Stonefield and his wife Alex, Mark Stonefield and his wife Monica, Kimberly Winship and her husband Chad, Jennifer Howey and her husband Kevin, and Deborah Flanagan and her partner Jesse Smith. He was the great grandfather of Jeremy Bost and Ian Stonefield, Ben and Anna Stonefield, Tim, John, and Sabrina Winship, Liam and Kate Howey, and Madison Smith. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Union Congregational Church, 55 Rhodes Avenue, East Walpole, MA at 2:00 pm. The family will receive guests in the church hall directly after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, Union Congregational Church, 55 Rhodes Avenue, E.
