Ernest A. Granger, 81, of Walpole where he has been a resident since 1966, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Winooski, Vermont, and was the son of the late Adelard and Flora (Gagne) Granger. Educated in the Winooski, Vermont Public Schools, He joined the United States Army spending time at the White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico. After his discharge from the Army, he attended the University of Vermont and earned his degree in Electrical Engineering. He later attended Northeastern University earning his Masters Degree. Mr. Granger worked for GTE Sylvania at many locations and he retired in 1990 after 32 years of employment. Mr. Granger loved to travel, enjoyed tennis and golf, reading, gardening, hunting, and spending time on his computer. He also volunteered for several years doing taxes for Walpole seniors. He leaves his wife of 53 years Mary F. (Moran) Granger, a son Michael A. Granger and his partner Brian P. Rooney of Jamaica Plain, two grandchildren, Steven and Leah Andreotti of Maine and a brother Raymond Granger of Vermont. He is predeceased by his daughter Jeanette M. Andreotti, his son Robert A. Granger, and 9 siblings, Armand, Leona, Lucille, Florence, Robert, Leonard, Clement, Loraine and Jeanette. A Celebration of Mr. Grangers life will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 12:30 to 2:30PM at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield concluding with Military Honors at 2:15PM.
