Henry James Scanzio Jr. entered eternal life on the Fourth of July after living a full life dedicated to his family, friends and doing what is right. Born in Boston Mass. on May 13, 1943, he met the love of his life, Carla, they married in 1966 and raised a family. His career as an executive with Mercedes Benz began in 1981 and took him from New England to Southern California, with a few trips to Italy, Germany, and Cabo San Lucas in between. Most notable among his accomplishments was assembling a team and opening the Mercedes Benz dealership in Hollywood where he served stars and public alike with a commitment to service. This leadership and commitment to serve stayed with him even after retirement, helping people as a member of the St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital Auxiliary. As a natural leader and businessman dedicated to service he held several roles with the Auxiliary including its president. He was so respected in that position he was asked to also serve as president for the St. John's Regional Medical Center Volunteers. He loved his family, his community, his country, his friends and colleagues and people. His friendly face and helpful spirit will always be missed at the Hospital front desk on Thursdays. He will be missed every day by his family: wife, Carla, children Andrew and Andrea, grandchildren Keghan and Caleb, father Henry Sr., and brothers Robert, Kenneth, and sister Deborah, and his many friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Agnes Margaret Hayes Scanzio. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his immediate family on the morning of July 4th, 2014. He went out as he lived, with a bang. Special Thanks to Dr. Ashouri, Dr. Mehdian, and Buena Vista Hospice, for their compassion, care and constant support. Henry's life will be celebrated at a viewing & vigil on Thursday the 10th of July between the hours of 4 and 8pm at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home in Southern California with a Funeral Mass at St. Mary Magdalen church, Camarillo, California on 25 Las Posas Road at 10am on Friday the 11th of July.
