Vincent J. Badala, Sr., age 96, died in the Harrington House in Walpole, Massachusetts on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey on March 13, 1918, he was the son of the late Ruggiero and Filominia (DiDonato) Badala. He graduated from Arlington High School with the class of 1936. He continued his education at Northeastern University and graduated with the class of 1942. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant during World War II. He has been a resident of Walpole since 1955. Vincent spent his working career as a Mechanical Engineer and was employed by Stone & Webster Engineering. He retired in 1980 with 33 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1319 in Walpole and was a former member of the Town of Walpoles Engineering Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting and was an accomplished watercolor artist. Beloved husband of 69 years to the late Elizabeth H. (Nannicelli) Badala, who died in April. Loving father of Mary and her husband Peter Connolly of Foxboro, Roger N. Badala of Walpole and Vincent J. Badala, Jr of Pittsfield. Cherished grandfather of Kevin and his wife Susan Connolly of Franklin, Kristen and her husband Shawn Buckley of Foxboro, and Meagan and her husband Ken Leach of Smithfield, RI. Great grandfather of 10. Brother of the late Rudolph Badala, Sadie Rosaria Zullo and Marguerite Badala. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends were kindly invited to attend Vincents Life Celebration on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 4 to 7 PM and Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 9 to 9:30AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common St Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Interment followed in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole on Saturday, August , 2014 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130.
