Joan E. Carlson Obituary
Joan E. (Sjoberg) Carlson, age 80, died in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Friday, August 2, 2014. Born in Walpole, Massachusetts on February 19, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John and Thekla (Berglund) Sjoberg. She graduated from Walpole Senior High School with the Class of 1962, and later graduated from secretarial school in Portland, Maine. Upon her graduation, she worked at the Norfolk County Trust Bank, and later in the Personnel Department of Factory Mutual Insurance Company in Norwood. After her boys were born, she stayed at home to raise and care for her family. She has been a resident of Norfolk, Massachusetts for the past year, moving there from Walpole. She and her husband, Bob, wintered on Sanibel Island in Florida and summered on Tricky Pond in Maine. As an avid reader, Joan loved to do crossword puzzles. She was a great host for family functions and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. Her best times were spent in their home in Florida and in Maine. Beloved wife of Robert E. Carlson. Loving mother of Don E. Carlson of Portland, ME, Richard E. and his wife Tracey Carlson of North Attleboro, Kenneth E. and his wife Mary Carlson of Norwood and Robert E. and his wife Lynda Carlson of Steep Falls, ME. Cherished grandmother of Tricia, Michael, Christopher, Lisa, and Lauren. Sister of Thelma and her husband Fred Fullerton of Glastonbury, CT, the late Raphael Sjoberg and the late Nancy Sjoberg. Close sister-in-law of Ruth and her husband Larry Sundberg of Walpole and Barbara Sjoberg of Pawtucket, RI. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Joans Life Celebration on Monday, September 1, 2014 from 4-8 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Emmanuel Lutheran Chuch, 24 Berwick Street, Norwood, MA 02062.
