Arlene A. (Bennett) Benson, 92, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at The Hannah B. G. Shaw Home in Middleboro, MA. She was the wife of the late Warren E. Benson. Born in Plymouth, MA, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Myrna A. (McMann) Bennett. She was a long time resident of Wareham before moving to Middleboro in 2011. Arlene was a homemaker and her greatest legacy is her family. She was member of the First Congregational Church in Wareham, a long time volunteer at the Wareham Public Library and a member of the Emblem Club in East Wareham. She is survived by six sons, Warren E. Benson Jr. and his wife Deborah (Johnson) of Wareham, Mass., Eric A. Benson and his wife Anne (Hobbs) of Westford, Mass., Mark A. Benson and his wife Karen (Gum) of Houston, Texas, and Peter L. Benson and his wife Christine (Montgomery) of Harwich, Mass., Larry Pupello and his wife Patricia (Konkus) of Georgetown, Calif. and Jonathan Taylor and his wife Patricia (Vogel) of Portland, Maine; two daughters, Joanne E. (Benson) Norton and her husband Richard Norton of Westford, MA and Sandra (Taylor) Hill and her husband Richard Hill of Easton, Mass.; twenty-two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visiting hours was on Wednesday, March 5, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rte. 28)m Wareham, MA from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the First Congregational Church, Gibbs Ave, Wareham, MA at 11 a.m. Internment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Hannah B. G. Shaw Home at 299 Wareham St. Middleboro, MA 02346 in memory of Arlene.
