Marion E. Provost, 93, of Rutland, VT. expired Monday evening, March 31, 2014 at Mountain View Nursing Home following an extended period of failing health. She was born Sept. 29, 1920 in Shoreham, Vt. to Wilfred and Laura (Yandow) Brisson. She was the eldest of eight children. Marion graduated from Newton Academy, Shoreham, Vt. class of 1938. She attended Bishop de Goesbriand Hospital School of Nursing. She married Lawrence "Buddy" Provost on July 4, 1942 and was married 58 years at the time of his death. Mrs. Provost retired from the Wareham Public School system as a cafeteria employee. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post - Auxiliary Unit #220. She is survived by two sons, Wilfred L. Provost and wife Janet of Wareham, MA. and Lawrence D. "Larry" Provost Jr. and companion Connie Connors of Shoreham, VT. She also leaves three sisters: Lorraine Audet, Thelma Buxton and husband Richard, and Mary Esther MacFarlane, all from Orwell, VT. Also two brothers: Robert Brisson of Shoreham and Armond Brisson and wife Ramona "Pedi" of Salisbury, VT. She leaves her sister-in-law Eleanor Brisson also from Shoreham. Marion leaves 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by her husband, sister Gertrude Farman and brother Eugene Brisson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Saturday, April 5, 2014 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Orwell, VT. with a reception following at Brandon American Legion. Burial will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, April 9th at Agawam Cemetery Annex, Wareham, MA. There will be no public calling hours.
