Robert G. Daly

Robert G. Daly, 67, of Watertown died on March 1, 2013, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Daly was born in Boston on September 5, 1945, and was the son of the late Francis J. and Mary A. (Linehan) Daly. He was a lifelong resident of Watertown and a parishioner at St. Lukes parish in Belmont. In 1964, he enlisted in the Army and served during the Vietnam era, through 1968. During his service he received a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals, two Overseas Service Ribbons, Combat Infantry Badge and a Purple Heart. After his service, he was employed by the Veterans Administration for over 43 years at the JFK Federal Building in Boston where he assisted fellow veterans with benefits claims. He is survived by his brother Francis J. Daly M.D., of Greenville, MS; a sister, Mary C. Leahey of Williamsburg, VA and seven nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital Chapel, Bedford on March 8, 2013. Interment was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Watertown Boys and Girls Club located at 25 Whites Avenue, Watertown, Massachusetts, 02472.
