Allen P. Andrews Obituary
Allen Palmer Andrews, Beloved Watertown High School Wood Working Teacher. After a long and wonderful life of 92 years, Allen passed away peacefully on November 1, 2017. Allens younger years were spent living and working in Watertown at his Dads company, Andrews Dairy on Franklin Street. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Allen returned home to marry the love of his life, Dottie Doyle Andrews. Theirs was truly a match made in heaven. Allen was one of the few lucky survivors of the polio epidemic, an experience that forged a genuine appreciation for life that had him singing cheerfully every morning when he awoke! As a master craftsman, Allen became owner of Sport Haven Boat Shop of Watertown and later went on to teach woodworking at Watertown High School. The quality of the furniture built by Allen and his students in the woodshop gives testament to Allen's mantra that, Only Perfect is Good Enough. Allen and Dotties retirement years were spent surrounded by family and friends at Bow Lake in Northwood, NH and in Bradenton, FL. Allen will be dearly missed by Ralph and Denise, Dana and Ann, Judy and Joe (King), Patti and Kevin (McAlarney) and by their nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, all of whom find comfort knowing that Allen and Dottie are together, once again. Burial services will be privately held. The Andrews' family invites you to view and share memories of Allen's life at www.forevermissed.com/ allen-palmer-andrews. Arrangements by Gately Funeral Home, Melrose.
