On August 2, 2017, Catherine E. Byrne went to her home in heaven. She is the wife of Vincent R. Byrne. They have seven children and twelve grandchildren. Born and raised in Brighton Center, Catherine, known as Kitty, is the daughter of the late William and Margaret Sullivan. Catherine attended St. Columbkilles schools and graduated first in the high school business course in 1955. After high school, she was employed by John Hancock Insurance. In August 1958, Catherine and Vincent married at St. Columbkilles where their wedding was officiated by her uncle Monsignor John A. Sullivan of Prince Edward Island. Catherine resided in East Watertown for over 40 years where she and Vincent raised their family. During that time, she was an active parishioner at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church and a founding member of the Couples Club. Through her volunteer work, Catherine supported the parochial and public schools her children attended. She also worked part time as a bookkeeper. In retirement, Catherine was a daily communicant at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville. She shared her time, treasure and talent with the Ladies Guild, the Prayer Shawl knitting group, and other parish needs. Her home-baked pies and cookies for the bake sales were legendary.
