Gerald F. Crimmins Obituary
Gerald Francis "Jerry" Crimmins, following a valiant struggle with metastatic cancer, on February 21, 2017. Beloved son of the late Mary A. (Charnley) and George F. Crimmins. Brother of Maureen Crimmins of Quincy and the late Kathleen Crimmins Gardner. Also survived by his sister-in-law, Kathleen C. Whooley, and niece, Julie Hong, both of Quincy. Born in Cambridge and reared in Watertown, Jerry spent every summer in Hough's Neck, Quincy. He moved to North Quincy in 1998, and in later years relocated to Waltham. An avid Boston sports fan, "J.C." was an excellent bowler for Waltham's Sons of Italy candlepin team. Bowling, devouring daily newspapers and news broadcasts, Topsfield Fair visits to meet the Flying Wallendas, and annual "pilgrimages" to Lake Winnipesaukee were among his favorite pastimes. Jerry's proudest achievement was earning a bona fide diploma from Watertown High School in 1982. Caregivers, neighbors and friends are invited to attend Jerry's memorial service, to be held at All Souls Unitarian-Universalist Church, 196 Elm Street, Braintree, on Saturday, April 8th. His service will be preceded by a release of doves at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's memory to Renewal House, 10 Putnam Street, Roxbury, MA 02119, would be gratefully appreciated.
