Marion T. Donovan Obituary
Marion Theresa Ne: Conran Donovan of Dover NH, formerly of Watertown, MA, Mirror Lake, NH and Port Charlotte, FL left this life on Saturday, March 30th, 2018 surrounded by her loving daughters. She was the devoted wife of the late Francis Joseph Donovan, MD having had a long and happy marriage of almost 60 years. She was predeceased by her beloved sons Brian in 1995, and Frank, Jr in February of this year and her daughter Jeannie in 2013. Marion was born in 1926 to Joseph and Ellen (Fitzgerald) Conran and raised in Quincy, MA. Attending St. Marys School, Mount St Josephs Academy, Emmanuel College and the Boston College School of Social Work. She was a social worker and certified child counselor. Mrs. Donovan briefly worked as a social worker in Harlem while supporting her husbands residency in Jersey City at the start of his medical career. While raising a family of seven children, she also supported her husbands medical practice in many ways for 45 years in the Boston/ Watertown area. During this time she was instrumental in creating and nurturing the Womens Auxiliary at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Boston. After retiring from raising her children, she began a career as a school adjustment counselor for the Needham public schools where she worked for many years. Marion loved Boston College football, sharing that enthusiasm with her family and friends attending many games and rarely missing a bowl game. At 89 she traveled to Dublin, Ireland with her three sons to attend a BC game being played there. One of her many trips to Ireland. She enjoyed genealogy and painting and her time with friends at Maple Suites. Mrs. Donovan is survived by 4 of her children, daughters Darilyn Donovan and Judy Donovan Hann, sons Kenneth and David, and their respective spouses and friends. Her grandchildren Jay, Erin, Tad, Heather, Kelly, Joe, Max, Ryan Marie, Emily, Lindsay, Brian, Kylie, Caity, Tiffany, Brianna, Brendan and Deirdre, along with her great grandchildren Lauren, Olivia, Cam, Lilly, JJ, Tripp and Sterling who all knew and loved her as Tutu. She was always full of life and happy to see family and friends and share stories of her travel and adventures. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in honor of Marions life at St. Josephs Church, Parish of the Assumption in Dover, NH on Friday April 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition or the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.
