Albert Hunt Obituary

Albert Barker Hunt Albert Barker Hunt, formerly of Weston and Brooklin, Maine, died peacefully at his home in Pinehurst, North Carolina on December 6. He was born January 22, 1910, in Santa Barbara, California, the son of Violet Barker and Charles Albert Hunt. He graduated from Stanford University and moved east for studies at Harvard Business School. He married Frances Parson, known as "Peg," in 1938, and they settled in Weston where they raised three children: Charles Albert Hunt and Margaret (Maggie) Hunt, of Weston, and Frances Von Mertens of Peterborough, New Hampshire. There are eight grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. Peg Hunt died in 1979. He also is survived by Joan Milligan Hunt of Pinehurst, whom he married in 1996, his stepdaughter, Palmer Hill of Southern Pines, and stepson, Peter Hill of Pinehurst. During a long and full life, he headed Rivett Lathe & Grinder, a machine tool and hydraulic parts manufacturing company in Brighton. He served on many boards both corporate and nonprofit, including the Meadowbrook School Board of Trustees as president. He also served on the Weston Planning Board. Together with his close friend and associate, Buck Dumaine, he worked to conserve family land, once known as 80 Acres and now part of Cat Rock Park in Weston. An athlete and outdoorsman, his pleasures were many including hunting and fishing, travel, and good food and wine, all enjoyed with family and friends. Following his wishes, friends and family will gather next summer in Brooklin, Maine, in flower gardens he tended with care, to share memories as well as his favorite champagne.

Today we mourn the loss of one of our own, even as we celebrate the fact the Meadowbrook School of Weston is a vibrant and successful school community because of the hard work and leadership of Mr. Hunt. Our community thanks him for his vision and hard work, even as we share in his family's grief.
