Mary K. Santella (Galiatsatou), 87, who lived at 44 School St., in Weston, MA, died in hospice on Thursday, July 19, 2012. Mary was born on March 29, 1925, in Patras, Greece. She lived in Athens, Greece, Marlborough, Brimfield and recently in Weston. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael Santella, formerly of Marlborough. Mike and Mary met during World War II, while he served in the Army Air Force, Signal Corps, as one of 12 GIs stationed in Athens, Greece. Mary immigrated in 1947. They subsequently married and raised their family in Marlborough. Mary retired from Sears corporate offices in Natick, after many years of service. She leaves her children, Ron Santella, Lee Santella, Michael (Buddy) Santella, and Patricia Freitas (Santella); 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. All are welcome to Mary's memorial service Saturday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m., at Westgate Church, 100 Winter St., Weston. A reception will immediately follow. Memorial donations may be made to Westgate Church, 100 Winter St., Weston, MA. The family conveys a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Parmenter Hospice Care for their extraordinary level of compassion and empathy.
