Arpena Lazarian

Arpena Penny Lazarian, 90, formerly of Wayland, Massachusetts, and most recently of Waterville, Maine, passed peacefully in her sleep on November 16, 2014. Penny was born in Boston, MA on March 9, 1924; the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Kaloostian, of Watertown, MA. She was a 1942 graduate of Watertown High School and a 1943 graduate of Burdett Business School. Thus began a long secretarial career, in Civil Service at the Watertown Arsenal and later as an Administrative Assistant in the Wayland Public School system from 1955 until her retirement in 1989. Penny was very active in several civic and volunteer organizations. She was a member and past treasurer of the Wayland Womans Club, one of the original founders of the Wayland Boosters, a volunteer as well as 12 year Board Member for the Wayland Council on Aging and member of the Wayland Senior Citizens Club. She was a Notary Public and volunteered many hours to her community. Penny enjoyed reading, gardening, and most of all, playing bridge. Above all she simply enjoyed the company of her family, time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many friends. Predeceasing Penny was her daughter Lane Blomgren, of Fairhaven, MA, grandson Tristian McPhail, of Austin, TX and four siblings. Surviving is her daughter Janis Natty Lazarian of Waterville, ME, sister Elizabeth Donabed of Sherman Oaks, CA, five grandchildren, Joshua and Gabrian McPhail, Meneah and Brecon Haworth and Garrett Blomgren. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren; Elijah, Adeline, Mathias, Josiah, Kristyn and Kaitlyn McPhail and several nieces and nephews. Family and Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Penny at the First Baptist Church of St. George, 33 Wileys Corner Rd. St. George, ME on Sunday, December 7, 3:00 PM. In the event of weather cancellation, service will be postponed to Sunday, December 14, 3:00 PM.
