Babette Parker Obituary

Babette "Betty" (Stone) Parker, 93, of Westwood a longtime former resident of Wellesley Hills and Osterville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 19th at home. Born in Attleboro, MA on July 25, 1919, the daughter of the late Samuel Stone and Tilda (Baer); she was the devoted wife of Dr. Jack Parker of Westwood for 68 years; the loving mother of Jack Parker Jr. of San Diego, CA and Diane and her husband Gregory Peters of Shelburne, VT; cherished grandmother of Tracey Grady and her husband Vaughn Collins of Seattle, WA, Raine and her husband Tony Pushckor of Maui, HI, Faith and her husband John James of Shelburne, VT and Andrew Peters of NY, NY; great-grandmother of Christopher, Justin, Dillon, Sky, Addison and Hadleigh; the dear sister of the late Samuel Stone Jr., Stephanie Baker and Harriet OKeeffe and aunt to 6 nieces and nephews. Betty received her undergraduate degree from Smith College and her Masters in Social Work from Simmons College. She loved people and was a frequent volunteer in the activities of her children and an outgoing devoted friend to so many. She was an active volunteer in the Wellesley Community including the Service League of Wellesley, the Garden Club of Wellesley and was a past president of the Smith Club of Wellesley. She devoted many hours to the support of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and loved her Investment Club and Bridge Club, as well as her activities at the Wellesley Country Club, Wianno Club, The Country Club and The Moorings and Riomar Clubs of Vero Beach Florida. She cherished all the interactions with the people that were brought into her life by these varied interests. There was a private burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellesley. Relatives and friends were invited to a memorial reception held in the Baker wing at Fox Hill Village, 10 Longwood Drive, Westwood on Saturday, February 23, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM (remarks at 3:30pm). Memorial contributions may be made in Bettys memory to the Department of Hematology, Vernon Cancer Center, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, 2014 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02462 or The Carroll Center for the Blind, 770 Centre St, Newton MA 02458. Arrangements are under the direction of the Duckett Funeral Home of J.S Waterman & Sons. Betty will missed by so many of us. She was a great lady, smiling always, and a wonderful bridge player. I feel blessed that iI with her for lunch at Fox Hill just a few short months ago. Our family will always remember her. God Bless. Jan and Rick McCoy
