Kenneth Leavitt Obituary

Kenneth Read Leavitt of Sherborn passed away on Dec. 17th, 2013. Beloved husband of Christine Leavitt. Devoted father of Ben Leavitt, Jen Leavitt Tietjen, Vivian Leavitt and the late Walter Leavitt. Ken is pre-deceased by his mother Margaret Leavitt. He is survived by his father Howard B. Leavitt and his step-mother Joan Leavitt and three brothers Hunt, John and Donald Leavitt. Born in Englewood, NJ, he grew up in the US, Lebanon and Brazil. Ken had a lifelong love of music: in Brazil, he started and was the lead singer/guitarist in a rock and roll band, The Trolls; at that time a popular band in Rio de Janeiro who did the opening for Hermans Hermits. Ken was an entrepreneur, a leader and visionary who enjoyed many successes throughout his life as CEO of CGX Corp., GraniTech and Soundwalls. Ken's true passion was for the outdoors and his desire was to unite families through adventures in nature. At the time of his death he was developing two aerial treetop adventure courses here in MA. He enjoyed hiking, kayaking, snowboarding and boating on Lake Winnepesaukee. Ken was dedicated to the practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM), he and his wife studied with Maharishi and became TM teachers. Ken was a family man, a steadfast friend and someone who had an uncanny ability to focus and problem solve. An eternal optimist, he faced lifes challenges with determination. Services will be held at Pilgrim Church (25 South Main St. Sherborn, MA 01770) at 11am on Sat, Jan 11th, 2014. Donations in Ken's memory can be made to Maharishi University of Management (MUM) Attn; Development Office, 1000 North 4th St., Fairfield, IA 52557. Arrangements by George F. Just by chance read about this and though I didn't know him well I got my start in Electronics at his company in Acton, Mass, CGX and loved working there. Offshoot of Adage in Billerica, Mass once the premier Computer Graphics company-CADCAM globally. I ended up working in the field for decades which provided Engineering Workstations to many top global and defense contractors like GM, MacDonnell Douglas, Cubic Defense(for Top Gun) etc. Absorbed back into Adage which it took over then National Computer Systems which was acquired by Pearson Government Solutions of Pearson Plc. which became Vangeant and various private equity mostly govt. related corporations in Arlington, VA area. Cubic Defense military side was absorbed into Collins Aerospace division of Raytheon. National Computer Systems had nothing to do with all this being an OMR scanner company for all national school testing and data Storage and I was the last person to work and maintain their contracts on Adage, Genographics,(GE Graphics) Vector General, CGX, etc. equipment. Retired now but owe it all to CGX hiring me back in the 80's and am very saddened to learn of his passing. I still have a stock certificate from CGX and many wonderful memories.

So sorry for your loss. This goes out to all those in grief..it is the toughest time and the grief strong and abundant. Stay strong through the lows and make praise in the highs. For there is nothing greater than the loss of a loved one but a new beginning and transition in the one's since passed. Celebrate the memories and cherish the new relationship into the new world we have not yet seen. For loved ones passed are not forgotten but celebrated for their journey in the after. God Bless You.
