Robert Meyers Obituary

Dr. Robert D. Meyers, 75, passed away on Tuesday, July 12th at his home in Etna, New Hampshire. Meyers was a long time resident of Wenham. He graduated salutatorian from Brooklyn Technical High School, NYC and then continued his education at Renssellaer Polytechnical Institution and Albany Medical College. He completed his training at San Francisco General Hospital and Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital and then served as Captain in the United States Army in Frankfurt, Germany. He practiced hematology and general internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital, Cape Ann Medical Center, Beverly Hospital, Lahey Clinic and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where he was associate professor of medicine. Meyers enjoyed classical music, art, traveling, hiking, gardening, skiing, wildlife, and baseball. He was a voracious reader of non- fiction, particularly American history and the Civil War. He is survived by his wife, Fern Meyers, brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Martin Meyers and Dr. Ida Meyers of Perth, Scotland; his three daughters and their husbands | Elizabeth and Jeffrey Diton of Succasunna, NJ, Janet and Peter Vanoni of Portland, Oregon and Karen and Christopher Shailor of Beverly, MA. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Robert and Matthew Diton, Alexandra and Rebecca Shailor, and Magdelena and Joseph Vanoni. A celebration of his life will be held on August 6th at his home in Etna. Charitable contributions in his name may be made to the Parkinsons Center, Dartmouth-Hitchcock foundation, 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, N.H. 03756.
