He was a 1952 graduate of Malden High School, a 1961 graduate of Franklin Technical Institute and a 1986 graduate of Northeastern University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1956. After a thirty-nine year career as a network engineer with New England Telephone, now Verizon, he retired in 2000. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Pocasset Golf Club. He was also well-known for his spectacular vegetable gardens. A talented singer and music lover, Tom enjoyed barbershop harmony and performed for many years as a baritone with the Narragansett Bay Chorus of Providence and as a tenor for the Gateway Guardsmen of Framingham. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Tom's family asks that donations be made in his memory to VNA of Cape Cod Hospice, 434 Route 134, Suite D3, South Dennis, MA 02660 or to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 with a memo for bladder cancer research. www.nickersonbournefuneralhome.com.
