Johanna F. (Aho) Parke, 94, of Acton, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was the beloved wife of the late Leslie F. Parke who died in 1998. Born in Maynard on June 19, 1918 she was the daughter of the late John J. and Justina (Kangasvieri) Aho. She attended Maynard public schools, graduated from Maynard High School in 1936, and attended Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston. While a student at Maynard High School, she was an accomplished athlete, lettering in field hockey. She also played basketball and tennis, and enjoyed swimming and playing the guitar. For many years, prior to her retirement, Mrs. Parke was the Superintendent's Secretary at MCI Concord. A longtime Acton resident, she lived life to its fullest. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, gardening, cooking, watching sports, the beach, holidays, and especially spending time with her family. She was an avid Red Sox Fan and attended a game at Fenway Park at the age of 90, where she was given a game ball by one of the players. Survivors include her four children, Jean F. Clegg and her husband Robert of Spring Grove, PA, Robert W. Parke and his wife Betsy of Westford, Barbara P. Huey and her husband Alfred of Center Harbor, NH and Joanne L. Parke of Acton, five grandchildren, Christian and Damon Parke, Ashleigh Boucher, Sharyn Saunders and Melissa Clegg, three great-grandchildren, Devin and Grant Saunders and Johanna E. Parke and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 18th from 9 to 11 AM in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center followed by a funeral service in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home at 11 AM. Burial will be in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
