George S. Gledhill

George S. Gledhill, 77 of Wayland, MA, passed away peacefully April 15, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born in Waltham, MA, April 19, 1934, son of the late William and Dorothy (Stumpf) Gledhill of Sudbury, MA. He was the youngest of 5 children. On March 29, 1959 he married the love of his life Grace V. Parmenter his wife of 53 years. He graduated from Waltham High/Technical School in 1954. A machinist by trade he started his own business with the support of his family in 1967. In the 21 years to follow he also ran Glen-Hill Corporation and Glen-Hill hardware store in Natick, MA. After closing the businesses in 1988 he held jobs as a machinist and in sales until 2008. He enjoyed spending time with his family, play golf and cards, having coffee with friends and traveling with his wife. He had a gift for making wooden toys. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughters Gayle Gledhill of Wayland, MA, Gerrie Gledhill of Plaistow, NH, and his granddaughter Isabella Gledhill also of Wayland, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Grace in March 2012, his son Glen Gledhill in 1980 and his 4 siblings. There will be a joint Memorial Service for George and Grace Gledhill at Community United Methodist Church, 5 Damon Street, Wayland, MA on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10:00 am. Internment to follow at Lakeview cemetery Wayland MA. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
