Dorothy J. McDermott

Dorothy J. (Lints) McDermott, age 84, of Westwood, died peacefully, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Newton & Wellesley Alzheimers Center in Wellesley. She was born, raised and educated in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School, Class of 1947. She has lived in Wellesley for two years, previously living in Braintree for three years and earlier in Westwood for forty-five years. Dorothy was a homemaker and loved her Westwood home. She was a phenomenal gardener and excellent cook. Dorothy enjoyed nature, bird watching, reading, music and was an avid sports fan, first following the Boston Braves and then the Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots. Beloved wife of the late Christopher J. McDermott, Jr. Devoted mother of Michael J. McDermott and his wife Susan Nadler of Sandown, NH, Kathleen Ann McDermott of Boston, Joan M. Garron and her husband Douglas of Weston, John B. McDermott and his wife Michelle of Saugus, Paul T. McDermott and his wife Susan of Franklin and Margaret M. Martell of Quincy. Loving grandmother of Morgan Nadler; Douglas, Christopher, Peter, and Mark Garron; Alicia, Samantha, Paige, and John McDermott; and Kyle, Christopher and Cole McDermott. Daughter of the late Daniel and Lillian (Peterson) Lints. Sister of Marion MacPherson of Quincy and Richard Lints of Nevada, the late Elleanor Donnelly, the late Russell Lints, the late Paul Lints, and the late Robert Lints. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours were held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Ave., Quincy, on Tuesday, April 9th. Relatives and friends were invited to attend. Interment Services were conducted at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton on Wednesday, April 10th.
