Marie J. (Arsenault) Blake, age 72, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at home. Marie was born in Quincy, raised and educated in Quincy schools and was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1959. She has lived in Weymouth for twenty-seven years. She was employed for twenty years as a switchboard operator at the Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital and retired in 2001. Previously, she was the district manager for Avon Products in the Quincy area for many years. Marie enjoyed crafting, knitting, making and decorating cakes. She was devoted to her family and especially to her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Beloved wife for forty-nine years to Martin F. Marty Blake, Quincy Police Dept., Retired. Devoted mother of Suzanne M. Spargo and her husband David of Quincy, Michelle M. Micklos and her husband Ronald of Mashpee. Loving grandmother of Lisa, Mary, Joseph, RJ, Daniel, Sarah and Alycia. Cherished great-grandmother of Paige and Payton. Sister of Paul Arsenault, Q.F.D., Retired of Brockton and Nancy Milone of Quincy and also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Wednesday, April 16, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 oclock. Warren J. "Barney" Bryant, passed away at the Weymouth Health Care Center, April 8, 2014, at the age of 97. Barney was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Althea F. "Affie" Bryant; and is survived by his 3 sons, Russell of Ossipee, N.H., Richard and his wife Pamela of South Weymouth and Steven and his wife Cheryl of Weymouth; and his daughter-in-law, Martha Bryant of Port Charlotte, Fla.; his 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Warren was also predeceased by his son, Philip Bryant. Warren was born in Stoughton, was a longtime resident of Weymouth and lived in Harwich Port for the past 32 years before moving back to Weymouth. They were also "snowbirds" wintering in Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., from January to April. He graduated from Weymouth High School in 1936 and worked at the Fore River Shipyard during World War II, then worked for the Lester R. Fulton Co. in Weymouth as a carpenter for 28 years. He was a past member of the Weymouth Grange and 35-year member of the Weymouth Lodge of Elks. Barney and Affie enjoyed traveling, (Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico) and driving cross country in their camper. They enjoyed boating and also enjoyed snowmobiling on the trails of N.H. The funeral service was held at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.), S. Weymouth, Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m., the visiting hours were Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. William F. Chouinard, 79, of Weymouth, died Wednesday. He was born to the late Raoul and Anna Chouinard, Jan. 21, 1935, in Holyoke. Bill graduated from Holyoke High School in 1952, enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably during the Korean War and received a BA in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1960. He married Lauretta Hourin in 1963; they lived together and raised their family in Hanover, before relocating to Weymouth in 1988. Bill was Executive Vice President of the Boston Chamber of Commerce, an independent business owner, consultant to the Newark Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director of the Ironbound Manufacturers Association. He retired in 2002. He was an avid golfer and spent much of his retirement at the Green Harbor Golf Club in Marshfield. Bill served on the board at the Joslin Diabetes Center, was active in their summer camp program and had several family members afflicted by diabetes. Bill is survived by his wife of fifty years, Lauretta H. Chouinard; and three sons and their wives, Robert A. Chouinard and Patricia A. Chouinard of Hingham, Peter F. Chouinard and Penelope M. Chouinard of Livermore, Calif., and William J. Chouinard and Jennifer V. Piccioli of Franklin. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Matthew B. Chouinard, Michelle E. Chouinard, Elizabeth M. Chouinard, Sofia C. Chouinard, Chloe A. Chouinard and Connor F. Chouinard. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Church of Saint Francis Xavier, 236 Pleasant Street, South Weymouth. Edward J. Coleran Sr. of Weymouth, entered into eternal life April 7, 2014, at the age of 87, after a period of declining health. Born, raised and educated in Weymouth, he was the son of the late M. Joseph Coleran and Mabelle (Linscott) Coleran. A proud Navy veteran of World War II, he served aboard the destroyer John R. Craig. After serving his country he worked at Quincy Shipyard and then for the Weymouth School Department for 36 years until he retired in 1990. He was a former member of Rockland Golf Course where, after retirement, he played golf three days a week. In addition to golfing, Eddie enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod, woodworking, lamp-making, repairing anything that was broken. He was well-known to family and friends for his ability to fix anything. As a devoted Catholic, he firmly believed in the power of prayer. He was a loyal parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in East Weymouth. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Barker) Coleran of Hingham and the late Irene (Henry) Coleran; father of Edward Coleran Jr. and Patricia Coleran of Weymouth and the late Robert Coleran. He was the grandfather of Ted Coleran of Whitman, Kara Hamilton of Indiana, Sean Coleran of Pembroke and Courtney Coleran of Weymouth. He had 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also survived by stepchildren, Janice Sullivan of Kingston, Karen Crowley of Duxbury, Pamela Johnson of Hingham and John Barker of Needham and their families. He was the brother of the late Mary Regan, Virginia Dunn and Joseph Coleran. Eddies family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff at Pope Nursing Home and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support during his illness. Ruth A. (Winkler) Ghiorse, age 97, passed away peacefully with her family at her side April 5, 2014. Ruth was born in Worchester and raised in Braintree. She lived in Braintree for most of her life, where she raised her family. She had lived in Weymouth for the past 14 years. Ruth was a graduate of Braintree High School, Class of 1935. Mrs. Ghiorse was a longtime member and past president of the Braintree Point Womens Club and a lifetime member of the Braintree Yacht Club. Ruth was the beloved wife of the late John T. Ghiorse; devoted mother of John T. Jr. and his wife Constance of The Villages, Fla., William C. of Ithaca, N.Y., George C. and his wife Patricia of Falmouth, Lois A. Shores and her husband Roger of Carver, Marilyn E. Narcotta and her husband Jack of Bridgewater, Peter W. and his wife Linda of Wycoff, N.J., Elizabeth Bitsy M. Osgood and her husband Edward of Monument Beach, Richard D. and his wife Mary of Weymouth, Seth R. and his wife Linda of Bel Air, Md.; beloved sister of the late Elizabeth Hill; loving grandmother to 32 grandchildren; and loving great-grandmother of 52 great-grandchildren; beloved aunt of David Hill and his wife Deborah of Norwell, and Jean Hill of Weymouth.
