Alice M. Wilson Obituary
Alice M. (Kane) Wilson, of Weymouth, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her children, on January 16, 2017. She was 94. Alice grew up in Dorchester and began her career as an operator for New England Telephone Company before marrying the late Walter J. Wilson in 1945 and starting her family. After many years as a homemaker raising ten children, Alice worked as the secretary at St. Jeromes School in Weymouth and then later at Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree. As an active member of her parish, Alice was devoted to her faith and often made christening robes for the newly baptized. She loved sewing, was a gifted quilter and an enthusiastic participant of the Crosstown Quilters Guild of Weymouth. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching the art to others and often held classes in her home. Alice was happiest when spending time with family and friends regardless of whether she was poking in the garden, relaxing in a campsite or just making Irish bread for all to enjoy. Beloved wife of the late Walter J. Wilson. Devoted mother of Eileen Zuffante and her husband Vincent of Middleboro, Kenneth Wilson of Weymouth, Dennis Wilson and his wife Carol of Magnolia, Mary Callahan and her husband Thomas of South Easton, Joseph Wilson of Weymouth, John Wilson and his wife Teri of North Easton, David Wilson and his wife Jacquie of Hanover, Robert Wilson and his wife Maria of South Easton, Kathleen Goyette and her husband Joseph of Norton, and the late James Wilson and his widow Darlene of North Carolina. Cherished Nana of 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Pre-deceased by 5 brothers. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours on Friday, Jan. 20, from 4 - 8 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, North Weymouth, at 40 Sea Street (off Rte. 3A - Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends gathered in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, prior to the funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 a.m.. Burial in Old North Cemetery, Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alice may be made to Norwell VNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061.
