Chester Ward French went into the hands of the Lord on May 28, 2017, finally finding peace after enduring a long illness. Chester was born on October 24, 1941, the son of the late Chester and Violet French. He graduated from Concord High School, served in the United States Navy, and was self-employed as an engineer and, later owned his own bagel shop where he took pride in experimenting with new and exotic flavors. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and of the Quincy Rural Lodge of Freemasons, where he served as Master for two years. Chester is survived by his devoted wife, Julia, and their three children, Timothy (Dorienne) of Norton, Thomas (Jocelyn) of Bridgewater, and Roseann Sguelia of Schaghticoke, New York; as well as his two precious grandchildren, Peyton and Autumn. He has also left behind three siblings, Judy Sepka of Florida and Nancy Vespa and Wendy Conrado of Vermont. There will be a special memorial service on June 10, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Quincy at 11 a.m.. Prior to this there will also be a Masonic service at 10 a.m.in the church garden (in the church if raining) for anyone who wishes to attend. The family would like to thank the staff at Webster Park for their care in making Chester's stay as comfortable as possible. They would also like to thank Pastor Heidi Johnston for her ongoing support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 201 Granite Street, Quincy, MA 02169 or the Webster Park Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, 56 Webster Street, Rockland, MA 02370.
