Evelyn B. Spaulding Obituary
Evelyn B. Spaulding (Robertson), a long-time Weymouth resident, died on July 31, 2017 in Chapala, Mexico. She was 90. Evelyn was born in Boston and moved to Hinston Road in Weymouth to the house that her father built when she was still an infant. At that time the street was not paved, and her mother had to carry water from a community well. She graduated from Weymouth High School in 1944 and worked at the Hingham Naval Depot during WWII. She subsequently worked for the Bell System as a long-distance operator in the 1950s and later as a repair clerk. She was a Telephone Pioneer and was actively involved in the Telephone Worker's Union, serving as a union representative from the 1970s to the early 1990s. After retirement, she spent summers in Prince Edward Island, Canada where she had many cousins and winters in Chapala, Mexico. She was predeceased by her parents, Newton and Lucy (Norton) Robertson and her daughter, Pamela E. O'Leary. She is survived by her sons Charles Clark and Marilyn Matis of Belmont, Harlan Spaulding and Janet Peterson of Carver and Wayne and Anne Marie Clark of Georgetown, Pa., as well as her grandchildren Calandra Clark of Watertown, Alyssa Clark of Cambridge, Angus O'Leary of Merrimac, N.H. and Harlan and Johnathan Spaulding of Carver. There will be a small private memorial service.
