Gail Ruth Cobb, 72, of Canton, formerly of Quincy, died November 9, 2017 surrounded by the love, comfort and care of her family after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer. Born and raised in Quincy she was the third of four children born to the late James M. and Ruth C. (MacKinnon) Craig. She graduated Quincy High School, class of 1962 and furthered her education at Burdette College and, later, UMass Boston. She had worked for the former Retina Eye Foundation in Boston and finished her career as the Office Manager of her husbands medical practice in early 2017. Mrs. Cobb is remembered for her fierce devotion and love for family and friends, her selflessness, and her genuine care and interest in helping others. She enjoyed music, painting and cooking but her favorite times were those spent in the company of her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Dr. William E. Cobb, loving mother of Scott Stirling and his spouse Kelli of Quincy, Wendy Deane and her spouse John of Canton, step mother to Alicia Meyers and her spouse Leslie of Cold Springs N.Y., and Monica Bautista and her spouse Jesse of Roseville, Calif. Dear sister of Bob Craig and spouse Pam of Quincy, Jeff Craig and spouse Marcia of Quincy and Steve Craig and spouse Dotty of Truro. Cherished grandmother to Nicholas, Seamus, Katie, Megan, Isabelle, Jack and Will. Also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many close friends. Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited, held Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. in the Houghs Neck Congregational Church, 310 Manet Ave, Quincy, where she had been a long-time, active member. Interment to follow at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Visiting hours Monday, Nov 13, from 3 - 7 p.m. at Hamel Funeral Care & Cremation Service of Massachusetts, 26 Adams St., Quincy Center. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her memory be made to either the Houghs Neck Congregational Church or the Houghs Neck Congregational Church Scholarship Fund, 310 Manet Ave., Quincy MA 02169.
