Leon Rinella Obituary
Leon Rinella, 94, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2017. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 70 years, Susan (Manson) Rinella, cherished daughters, Susan Scully and her husband Michael of Rockland, Christine Prebensen and her husband Gary of Pembroke and Lisa Boutin and her husband John of Rockland. Dear brother of Mary Wright of North Weymouth. Also survived by 5 granddaughters and 9 great grandchildren. Leon was full of life, loved spending time with his family and always had a smile on his face. He served in the Army and was a World War II veteran. His unit stormed Utah beach in Normandy and he was fortunate to have met up with his brothers Salvatore and Anthony while serving in Germany. Leon retired as a heavy machine operator at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard at the age of 50 and spent the next 20 years working odd jobs and landscaping for the elderly. Leon, along with his wife Sue, enjoyed square and round dancing for over 45 years and loved their senior bowling leagues for almost 20 years. He loved working outside, playing cards, playing games on his computer and was a diehard Patriots fan. Leon was such an influence in his familys life that he will be deeply missed. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St. (Rt. 53), Hanover on Friday, Sept. 22 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thecla Catholic Church, 145 Washington Street (Rt. 53), N. Pembroke on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Harbor House Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 11 Condito Road, Hingham, MA 02043 or Beacon Hospice, 32 Resnick Road, Suite 3, Plymouth, MA 02360.
