Lois J. MacDonald, 86, of Quincy died peacefully on the morning of December 30, 2017, surrounded by the love, comfort and care of family at Seasons Hospice in Milton following a short illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Malcolm J. MacDonald who died in 2012. Born in Boston and raised in Quincy, she was a daughter of the late James and Mildred (Paige) MacAfee. Lois worked in newspaper sales and advertising for many years, starting her career with the company which eventually became The Boston Herald before accepting a position with The Boston Globe in classifieds. She finished her career with GateHouse Media as a Classified Advertising Representative for The Patriot Ledger and The Enterprise newspapers, retiring in 2010. At Quincy Point Congregational Church, she was a beloved member of the congregation and served as a Deacon. Her talents as a baker led her to create many delicious items for church events. She was the loving mother of Kristin Wright of VA and Andrew Macdonald and wife Margaret (Rossley) of Weymouth. Cherished grandmother of Penelope MacDonald of Quincy and Gwyneth and Piper Wright of VA. Dear sister of Sylvia Russell of Avon and James MacAfee of VA. Also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend her memorial service at the Quincy Point Congregational Church, 444 Washington St., Quincy, on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 11 a.m. A private burial will take place at Blue Hill Cemetery.
