Marilyn M. Cott-Morgan, also known as Rising Moon, of Weymouth, formerly of Braintree, passed away on Aug. 13, 2013, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 87. Born and raised in Michigan, Marilyn graduated from Stevens College in Michigan. After some time spent in Braintree, Marilyn settled with her family in Weymouth, where she has lived for the past 40 years. Marilyn was a volunteer at the Library in Braintree and Weymouth for many years. Marilyn was a former member of the Eastern Star and the oldest Matriarch of TOPIC (The Order Preservation Indian Culture). She was also an active member of the Holbrook United Methodist Church for many years. Marilyn was simply a generous and loving spirit who will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her. Wife of the late Horace F. Hawka Scott. Loving mother of David C. Scott of Randolph, Debra A. Neary of Rockland, James E. Scott of Easton, Patricia A. Scott of Wash., Elizabeth A. Jeswald of Weymouth and Michael H. Scott of Manchester, N.H. Devoted sister of Harriet Hardy of Holbrook. Also survived by 8 grandchildren. Memorial visiting hours were Friday, Aug. 16, from 5 | 8 p.m. in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 So. Franklin St. (Rte. 37), Holbrook. A memorial service was held on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church, 60 Plymouth St., Holbrook. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marilyns name to the Holbrook United Methodist Church, 60 Plymouth St., Holbrook, MA 02343.
