Patricia F. Newcomb-Hagan, of Weymouth, age 91, passed away on July 30, 2017. Born March 9, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the oldest child of the late John Fairfield and Meriel Fairfield. Patricia earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska with double majors in Sociology and Art. She and the late Lieutenant Commander Paul R. Newcomb Jr. were wed September 16, 1950. Patricia and her husband stated their lives together in Charleston, S.C., and traveled extensively as a Navy family, eventually settling in Weymouth in 1966. While still raising her family, Patricia became a successful Real Estate broker on the South Shore. Patricia owned and operated the Fore River Bait and Fishing Tackle store in Quincy starting in 1979. She built her business on providing helpful advice to local fishermen and was well respected for her knowledge in a male-dominated industry. She enjoyed over 20 years of retirement in Florida with her late husband Floyd Hagan and other family members until she returned to Braintree two years ago. Patricia was an avid life-long reader, with weekly trips to the library she enjoyed reading multiple books at one time. She was always interested in the history of different cultures and especially enjoyed western novels and Native American culture and art. For decades, Patricia enjoyed building her stamp collection. She was skilled at playing the electric organ and took several levels of study and loved to play. She was a very talented seamstress and made many of her suits which she wore to church and in business. Over her lifetime Patricia enjoyed painting, especially landscapes. At age 79 she traveled by herself to her mothers ancestral home in Hungary to visit family and learn more about her heritage. Patricia had a deep knowledge of biblical history and remained faithful in her beliefs. In addition to her parents and two husbands, Patricia was predeceased by her brother, John Fairfield, Jr. and her middle son, Patrick Newcomb. She is survived by her remaining children: Meriel N. Brodie, Paul Newcomb, Mark J. Newcomb, Elizabeth Newcomb, Juliana B.
