Patrick J. OBrien Obituary
Patrick J. OBrien, age 99, entered into eternal life on October 15, 2016. Pat was born in Skibbereen, County Cork, Ireland, and came to Weymouth at age 12. He graduated from Weymouth High and Bridgewater State College and then received a masters degree from Boston University in Education. Mr. OBrien was a WW II Army veteran. He served in the Pacific Theatre with the 77th infantry. He was a teacher at both the Kelley and Harrington Elementary Schools and then he was a counselor at the King elementary School, all in Cambridge. He also taught at the Fernald School in Waltham. Pat was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher at Sacred Heart in Watertown. Beloved husband of the late Alice R. (Wilkins). Devoted father of John F. OBrien and his wife Mary of Hull and Alice P. Mousseau and her husband Richard of Waltham. Loving grandfather to Kerry, Sean, Richard, Kevin, James, and Maureen. He was Papa Pat to 7 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his nephews, Father John Burchill O.P. , Kenneth and Hugh OBrien and two nieces, Joan Conole and Eileen Cippulo. Beloved brother of the late Madge Burchill, Molly, Ellen, Catherine, John, Timothy, Cornelius, and Dennis OBrien. Funeral from the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, 100 Washington St., Weymouth Landing on Wednesday, October 19, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church Weymouth at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 2 - 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. Burial in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. If desired, donations may be made in his memory to: Saint Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
