Paul Hilary Scanlan, Sr., 80, of The Villages Florida, passed away on April 15, 2017 at the VA hospital in Gainesville, FL. Paul was a native of Weymouth and had been a resident of Florida area since October 2016. Prior to his retirement, he was a maintenance mechanic for a retail warehouse. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 7 years. He was active in the American Legion, The Fraternal Order of the Elks, The Fraternal Order of the Eagles and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Weymouth where he was also an altar server in his youth. He was preceded in death by his son William Francis Scanlan, III. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 59 years, Marion I. MacIver Scanlan, devoted children Ruth Scanlan Hager (Norman) of the Villages, FL, Kim Scanlan Milliken (Gary) of North Conway, NH, Sharon Scanlan Larsen (Howard) of Bridgewater, Paula Scanlan Peterson (Douglas) of Sherborn, Paul Scanlan Jr (Tara) of Milton, brother David Francis Scanlan (Lucille) of Plymouth, sisters Marion Denise Scanlan SSJ and Jean Elizabeth Scanlan SSJ, both of Framingham, 12 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. There will be a celebration of his life and a Catholic Mass on January 6, 2018. Please contact Paul Jr. or Sharon for information about this celebration.
