Robert Francis Clark Jr., 62, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away April 20, 2012. He was born Oct. 22, 1949 in Weymouth, MA, the son of Robert F. and Grace A. (Sullivan) Clark. After graduating from Weymouth High School, he enlisted in the Army. He earned his Jump Wings in 1969 and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, NC, at one point guarding key government buildings in Washington, DC. He was then assigned to the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam in 1970. In his first mission with the L Company Rangers 75th Infantry, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with "V" Device for valor. Shortly after his second mission, he was awarded the Air Medal. That May, he graduated from the elite 5th Special Forces Group MACV Recondo School. He later became a team leader and advisor in missions in the A Shau Valley. After being awarded the Purple Heart, he received his honorable discharge. After his service, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Education degree from Salem State. After teaching at Marshfield High School, he held regional sales and management positions. He resumed his teaching career at Greenfield High School, while also serving in the Army National Guard and later the Air Force Reserves. Upon retiring, he relocated to New Hampshire and Florida. He loved his family and enjoyed the outdoors, coaching sports, and the Boston Red Sox. He is survived by his parents; son Jeremy Robert Clark; brothers John Clark and Kevin Clark, and sister Margaret Gronberg. He will be buried at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
