Roger H. Wallin Obituary
Roger H. Wallin, age 82, of Weymouth and Canoe Cove, P.E.I., Canada, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, after a brief illness, Sunday, November 27, 2016 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, surrounded by his loving family. Roger was born in Quincy, October 5, 1934, to the late Bertil A. and Ingeborg M. (Swanson) Wallin. He was raised and educated in Quincy and had lived in Weymouth for fifty-seven years. He enjoyed vacationing in his summer home on Canoe Cove, Prince Edward Island, Canada. He was a retired building inspector for the City of Quincy and had previously worked as a building inspector for the Town of Weymouth and also as construction supervisor at MIT. Roger was a well-known licensed builder and carpenter for over thirty years and began his career working on the South Shore with his late fathers company, B.A. Wallin and Sons. He was a longtime active member of the Fort Square Presbyterian Church in Quincy where he served as a trustee and as an usher for many years. Roger was proud to have served in the Massachusetts National Guard for several years. He was a family man and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. Beloved husband for forty-four years of the late Mary E. (Campbell) Wallin. Devoted father of Donna J. Donovan and her husband William of Abington, Ruth M. MacLeod and her husband Matthew of Abington. Loving grandfather of Amy OConnor and her husband Patrick, Bryan Donovan and his wife Rebecca, Ian, Allison and Neil MacLeod. Twin brother of the late Kenneth B. Wallin and longtime friend of Joan Cahoon of Buzzards Bay. Funeral services will be conducted at the Fort Square Presbyterian Church, 16 Pleasant Street, Quincy on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 10 oclock. Pastor John W. Culp will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
