Suzanne (McLaughlin) Dixon, 77, of Quincy died July 12, 2013. She was the devoted wife of 56 years to Robert A. Dixon. Born in Boston, July 20, 1935, she was the only child of the late William L. and Beatrice (Manning) McLaughlin. She was a 1953 graduate of Quincy High School. In 1956 she graduated from the former Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing and continued her education there in the area of Anesthesiology. She worked for many years as a Nurse Anesthetist with Quincy City Hospital where she also continued her education. She eventually earned a PhD in Cell Physiology from Boston College in 1974. She retired from the hospital in 1980, but continued to work for a time at St. Margarets in Dorchester, and also for Crown Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Dixon was a former member of the Quincy Conservation Commission and enjoyed reading and writing as well as the Arts and nature - especially animals. She enjoyed jogging and had participated in various marathons. In addition to her loving and devoted husband Robert, she is survived by a stepbrother, John Connolly of Maine; and stepsisters, Barbara Sogliuzzo of California and Joanna Wheelock of Maine. Also survived by nieces and nephews. She was the stepsister of the late Beatrice Franceschini. Visiting hours were held Thursday, July 18, from 4-8 p.m. at the Hamel, Wickens & Troupe Funeral Home, 26 Adams St., Quincy. All other arrangements are private at her request.
